From the constant skyrocketing prices of goods and petroleum to the shortage of rice, Filipinos are now bothered by their electric bill (I wonder if in the future, the water bill will be too?). There recently had been a lot of accusations and questions on MERALCO.
As we all know, MERALCO is a public utility owned by the Lopezes. It has been supplying electricity to the homes of Filipinos for a long long time.
The issue is this: Who should takeover the Meralco?
Many of the people I’ve asked think that it should be taken over by the government. Of course, every one of us wants to pay the electricity for as less as possible since we regard electricity as a necessity. (who wouldn’t?). But in my opinion, it should still be the Lopezes. I feel that all issues just pass and go. It has not even been resolved a bit. From the ZTE scandal to the rice shortage and then to this. I think that the main problem is because of the lack in competition. Anyhow, the government still get a lot from it right?
